The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in partnership with the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) at Georgetown University continues to offer a unique Masters degree program in "Cancer Biology, Prevention and Control" at UDC. The program is jointly administered and taught by UDC and LCCC faculty and is funded by the NCI grant U56CA101563 / U56CA101429 of the National Institutes of Health to Dr. Carolyn Cousin (PI, UDC) and Dr. Peter Shields (PI, LCCC).

The program has as its philosophy "The Best Cancer Prevention and Control Researchers are those with a sound understanding of Cancer Biology."
